Jawai Safari

Jawai is a quiet place where leopards live in the rocky hills near local villages.

  • The Ride: You go out in an open 4x4 jeep. The terrain is very rocky and bumpy, which is part of the fun. Our drivers are used to these hills and will take you up the slopes to see the view.

  • The Leopards: Leopards are wild animals, so they don't always appear on command. However, because they live in the open rocks rather than thick jungle, there is a good chance to see them, especially in the early morning or late evening.

  • The People: You will likely see the Rabari shepherds walking with their sheep and goats. It is a simple, real look at how people and wildlife live in the same area.

Jawai Dam (Jawai Bandh)

This is the main water source for the region. It is a large, calm place that is good for a relaxing visit.

  • Crocodiles: You can often see crocodiles sitting on the rocks near the water. They usually stay very still.

  • Birds: If you visit in the winter (November to February), you will see different types of migratory birds. In the summer, there are fewer birds, but the water view is still nice.

  • The Sunset: Most people go to the dam in the evening. It is a quiet spot to watch the sun go down over the water.

Nearby Places (Sheoganj & Sumerpur)

If you are staying in the area, these are a few local spots you can visit:

  • Sumerpur & Sheoganj Markets: These are busy "twin towns." You won't find big malls here, but you can see local life, buy traditional Rajasthani clothes, or see how local iron tools are made.

  • Kambeshwar Mahadev Temple: This temple is built on a hill. It requires a bit of a climb, but it gives you a very clear view of the whole Jawai area.

  • Local Temples: There are many small, old temples like Kerleshwar Mahadev that are important to the local people. They are simple, peaceful, and honest places of worship.

  • Ranakpur Temple (1-hour drive): If you have more time, this is a famous marble temple nearby. It is very detailed and stays cool even when it is hot outside.
